Title: One idea
Fandom: Inception, Baldur's Gate
Rating/Warnings: PG?
Pairings/Characters: No pairings, Arthur and Syeira
Summary: One simple little idea. That there's something inside you, something that won't leave you until death has taken you.
Notes: I don't own the Inception quotes used in this fic.

Even the smallest seed of an idea can grow. It can grow to define, or destroy you.

One simple little idea. That there's something inside you, something that won't leave you until death has taken you.

The darkness is sweeping across the sky now. It's dark on this planet, dark and freezing as a desert at night. Arthur's teeth chatter, even with his coat wrapped around him. It's frosting on the ground, and the grass crunches beneath his feet as he trudges forward.

It's been a long time coming.

All of Syeira's anger, all of her pain, and she can't ever let someone be burdened with any of it.

Arthur finds her then, in the distance. He diligently walks over to her and sits on the chilled ground next to her. She's silent, red curls playing softly in the breeze.

“What are you doing here? It's freezing,” he murmurs as he shrugs off his coat and lets it drape over her shoulders.

“Arthur - ”

“I'll be fine. You can't stand being on the ship all the time, can you?” he asks her, and her eyes drop.

“I'm fine.”

“When is it going to be bad enough that you'll let me in?” he says with force, and her eyes are immediately on his. “When you haven't slept in weeks? When you're dead?”

“Come on. You can't be out in this cold without a coat,” she says quietly, forcing him to stand. He huffs impatiently and wraps himself in the coat with her, so they're hobbling along, stuck together. And isn't that how it always is? It's not always pretty, how they deal with their issues, but they always do it together.

“Talk to me,” he pleads finally, and she smiles.

“I will.”

Maybe the beauty of Syeira is that she doesn't let it define her. She worries about it destroying her, but that isn't going to happen. Not if Arthur can help it.
